Despite all of their problems with the recession Members of Parliament still need to keep fit so they were out on the Thames earlier this month for their annual rowing race. Once again our pontoons were chosen to provide access to boats on the river. This always makes an interesting installation with the changes of tidal stream flow and river level. Unlike the economy, at least these members of parliament were able to maintain stability as they waited their turn to board their boats!
An on-water extravaganza uses a Pontoon & Dock Company floating pontoon
One of our floating pontoons was recently used for Wishful, an on-water extravaganza that included human Catherine Wheels, water jets and lighting. The event took place in Victoria Park in London. We undertook the project with Emergency Exit Arts.
Hinksey School Junior Sculls Regatta at Blenheim Palace
A new inaugural junior sculls event specifically aimed at the under 13s took place at Blenheim Palace on 12 June. This event, located in the grounds of one of the most spectacular private homes in the country, provided facilities for multi lane 500 metre racing. A long stable pontoon installed by The Pontoon & Dock Company "made the day" according to the Hinksey School organisers.
Beale Park Boat Show 2010
Beale Park once again chose to use modern roto-moulded pontoons for its moorings and marina during this year's Beale Park Boat Show. Chosen for their stability and user-friendliness, The Pontoon & Dock Company's pontoons provide a much needed stability for the thousands of visitors who come to this wonderful show set amongst the lovely River Thames countryside.
The Pontoon & Dock Company specialise in the supply of pontoons for all types of water activities. We also offer a pontoon/floating work platform hire service to those engaged in commercial and building activities on or near the water. Recent contracts include Stonbury Ltd, Birse Rail, Seward Wyon and O’Keefe Construction.
Recent interesting projects have been the hire of pontoons for use all along the riverside face of the Royal Stratford Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, a rowing event at Blenheim Palace, open-water swimming races throughout the country and construction activities at the Olympic Village in London.

We have recently won contracts to supply floating pontoons at a number of prestigious events throughout the summer. These include:
- a floating stage for the performance of Wishful at the Paradise Gardens Festival in Victoria Park, London on 19 June
- the Great East Swim at Alton Waters near Ipswich on 19 – 20 June
- the Liverpool Triathalon on 26 – 27 June
- the Zap Cats Edinburgh Grand Prix on 2 – 3 July
- the Great London Swim on 3 – 4 July
- the House of Lords vs House of Commons Rowing Regatta on the Thames on 8 July
- the Inland Waterways Association National Festival at Beale Park on 28 – 30 August.
