Marina Developments Ltd updates its craning facilities

Marina Developments Ltd has updated its craning facilities at two of its prestigious marinas, Penton Hook on the River Thames and Cobbs Quay in Poole.

At Cobbs Quay a Vermeer 10T crane was installed to add to the marinas ability to lift boats. At Penton Hook at 20T Vermeer Crane replaced an old mobile crane. These smart hydraulically operated cranes provide a first class craning facility for MDL’s customers.
Gosport Marina

Part of the Premier Marinas Group recently took delivery of a 20T Vermeer Crane which will allow them to crane out just about all of the boats moored in the marina. Vermeer Cranes are hydraulically operated and this means that there will be very little servicing of the crane required.

This is the third such crane supplied by the company to marinas in the U.K. – their simple and robust construction makes these cranes a very attractive option to marina operators.

A new hydraulic crane for Jachtwerf van den Berg

Jachtwerf van den Berg, a boat repair and winter storage facility based in Zuidland (near Rotterdam) the Netherlands, has taken delivery of a Vermeer Machine Techniek Yacht Crane type YCR-20FH, a new type of Yacht Crane with four lifting hooks and a lifting capacity of 20 tons.
The Yacht-Crane is specially designed to lift or lower a sailing yacht, including mast, and motor yachts in and out of the water for repair works, winter storage or cleaning.

Designed and built with simplicity of use and service in mind, this crane dispenses with the conventional cable winch systems normally employed on such cranes and replaces it with hydraulic plungers which increase or decrease the length of the cable by merely moving up and down within the crane tower.
This technique has proved it’s durability in elevators for many years and has the major advantage of low maintenance.
The Yacht Crane YCR-FH has the same lifting functions as the conventional static crane such as:
- the separate operation of the fore and aft slings to maintain the boat’s balance
- the crane hooks can, by means of four hydraulic cylinders, be simultaneously lifted and lowered to achieve an evenly balanced keel situation
- sling adjustment.
Vermeer Yacht Transporter operational

The first Vermeer Machine Tekniek Yacht Transporter to be delivered to the United Kingdom became operational on 22 February. This unit, complete with its multi-purpose Yacht Cradle is seen in the attached picture ready for delivery.
This Transporter and Cradle will be operating in a new marina where its ability to pick up and move just about any type of boat within its weight specification will provide the marina with an efficient and very reliable machine.
The Transporter and Cradle are part of Vermeer’s Yacht Range built using the company’s 50 years of experience in hydraulic engineering. The Transporter can be connected to just about any tractor or fork lift truck from where all operations are controlled via a remote control box.
Marina Developments Ltd purchases two Vermeer Yacht Cranes

The company is very pleased to announce that Marina Developments Ltd – the United Kingdom’s largest marina group, recently signed an agreement for the purchase of two Vermeer Yacht Cranes.
MDL’s Cobbs Quay Marina in Poole will acquire a 10 Ton Crane and Chatham Marina will install a 20 Ton. MDL has chosen Vermeer Cranes after a thorough inspection of Vermeer’s manufacturing facilities in Holland and after meeting a number of very satisfied customers.
The Vermeer Yacht Crane is a very simple to operate unit which uses an hydraulic ram to control the length of the cable and thus the position of the hook. Beautifully engineered and finished, these Vermeer cranes will give many years of trouble-free service and provide boat owners with every confidence that their expensive boats will be craned safely.
